Youth Empowerment

Youth Empowerment

When young people are given exposure to opportunities, they develop a broader sense of confidence and a more goal-driven mindset – with the idea that they can do anything they set their mind to. Youth empowerment, specifically through encouragement and access to opportunities, plays a tremendous role in community organizing, intergenerational equity, civic engagement and democracy building for future generations.

Empowering young people to take charge of their lives can inspire them to be future decision-makers for our communities.

By investing time and resources in our young community, we can educate and transform the population into a generation of innovation, opportunity, and social change.

Did you know, there are 74.2 million people under the age 18 in the United States. That’s 24% of the total population. Unfortunately, nearly 40% of those children live in low-income families with incomes at or below 200% of the federal poverty level.

Studies show direct links between empowerment and breaking free from poverty. Self-confidence, personal power and aspirations for the future are associated with a high increase in escaping poverty.
